Xander Schauffele leads JP McManu’s Pro-Am at Adare Manor

On the first day of JP McManus Pro-Am, thousands of people flocked to Adar Manor, a competition that attracts the best field of players outside the majors.

Xander Schauffele of California made headlines on the opening day of the 2-day event as he took eight shots in the 64-under par round to take the lead in the competition.

He led fellow American Ricky Fowler to five shots overnight on the leaderboard. Englishman Tyrell Hatton is further behind in third place.

Shane Lori’s good form continued from the last day of the Horizon Irish Open until Monday as the offensive golfer made the card in the three-under par round. Seamus Power of Waterford, Brooks Koepka of the United States and Brandon Stone of South Africa have joined him in the same sign.

Among the Irish players, Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy are the next best. Both signed for a 71. McDowell had four birdies and three bogies in the round while associate Ulsterman McIlroy had two birdies and a boogie.

Leona Maguire, who has won her first LPGA in recent weeks, had 72 equal rounds with Birdie at 4M15M And 16M Bogeys on holes, but three, thirteen and eighteen.

Tiger Woods is back in action for the first time in weeks where multiple major winners were driven around the course in the former World No. 1 golf cart to ease the pressure on him after his accident last year. The highlight of the day for the 5-time Masters winner was an Eagle Three on the 12th hole. The 46-year-old, 77, signed five overs.

Among the amateurs competing in the competition were stars from the worlds of sports, entertainment and business. Members of Westlife include U.S. actor Bill Murray, former top jockey AP McCoy, Ruby Walsh, Johnny Murtagh and Mick Fitzgerald; Liverpool FC legends Kenny Dalglish and Alan Hansen; Former Republic of Ireland manager Martin O’Neill; Businessmen Michael O’Leary, Dennis O’Brien and Michael O’Flynn were some of the celebrities who supported and participated in the competition.
