In the women’s singles category, in addition to Sindhu, Akashi Kashyap and Asmita Chaliha made it to the singles team after claiming first and second place in the badminton selection trial, respectively.
14-year-old Improvement Hooda was rewarded in fourth place after capturing third place and impressing in the selection trial. He was selected before veteran Saina Nehwal, who missed the trial.
Top 3 pairs of trials – Trisa Jolly-Gayatri P, N Sikki Reddy-Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Cristo-Shruti have been named in the mixed team.

The five teams compete in the continental championship qualifiers, with four semifinalists from Asia and Europe and champions from Africa, Oceania and Pan Am confirming qualifications. The remaining places in the final list of 16 will be based on the team rankings.
Note: If the continental championships are not conducted, the team rankings (the top three singles and the top two doubles incremental points) will determine the qualifiers.
