India tour of West Indies: For the first time ‘no private satellite channel’ but DD and Fancode to broadcast India vs West Indies series exclusively: Follow IND vs WI live

India WI Live Streaming: It is worth noting that since the dawn of the cable and satellite television era, this will be the first time the series will not be available for broadcast on a private sports network.

Fancode has decided to stream the series exclusively on their platform, being a CWI partner.

Mayank Kumar Aggarwal, CEO of Prasar Bharti said, “Cricket is the undisputed leader in sports and entertainment in India. Even in the rapidly growing digital age, there continues to be a significant market and audience for sports consumption on television and we are delighted to bring West Indies’ upcoming tour of India to the masses through DD Sports. While Fancode is creating a unique digital experience for sports fans, the extension of their rights to DD Sports will mean wider access to all sports fans for the series.”

Fancode co-founder Prasana Krishnan says, “DD Sports’ reach in small towns and cities is unbeatable, making it the ideal platform for televising the West Indies tour of India, as we continue to create a superior digital experience for fans nationally.”

India West Indies series not on private channels: For the record the series will be absent on private channels.

Normally DD broadcasts Indian cricket only on Freedish for which sharing of content by rights holder is mandatory. In this case, the rights holder is a subscription-based digital platform with no TV channels.

Last year, Fancode struck a deal with the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) to broadcast the series till 2024. During Adhikar’s tenure, India is slated to tour the West Indies in addition to the upcoming series.

Other teams that will tour the West Indies in the right period of the cricket series include England, Australia, South Africa and Pakistan. WICB rights were earlier held by Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI).

Fancode has decided to pursue combined rights (TV+Digital) as it seeks to grow its subscriber base. It is reported that DD Sports rates Rs 3 lakh for a spot in ODIs and Rs 5 lakh for T20 Internationals. Vin Global Media is the sales agent selling DD Sports series to advertisers. Advertising revenue is standard and will be split 75:25 in favor of the rights holder which in this case is Fancode.

The ODI series will begin on July 22, 7 PM IST, followed by two more matches on July 24 and 27 respectively. The ODIs will be followed by 5 T20s from July 29. Check out the full tour schedule here:
