The Irish show jumping team took a runner-up spot in Friday’s three-star Longins EEF Nations Cup in Drammen, Norway.

After the first round in a very close competition, Ireland saw a five-point lead split between the five teams.

Ryan and Suitnam completed the double clear round for the second time. Bertram Allen came home with four faults in the water. As the competition descended to the last row riders, Ireland, Brazil and Belgium were the three teams that could finish with a score of zero.

Brazil had to finish with the last score of one time fault. Ireland’s Geoff Curran picked up four errors near the end of his round and Belgium finished with the same score.

Brazil is the second fastest of the four teams to finish with a win over Ireland. Third is Belgium.

Ireland will take part in the five-star Longinus FIE Nations Cup action in Sopot, Poland this weekend.

The competition will be broadcast live on RTE News Channel from 1pm on Sunday.
