FIFA Rankings: India jumps to 104th position – In the latest FIFA World Rankings released on Thursday, the Indian football team has done well in its impressive Asian Cup qualifying campaign as it has jumped two places to 104th position. The Blue Tigers are placed below New Zealand (103rd) after a 0-1 defeat to Costa Rica in the Intercontinental Play-Offs earlier this month, who were eliminated from the 2022 FIFA World Cup spot. FIFA ranking: India has won two places

India’s ranking among the members of the Asian Football Confederation, however, remains at 19th position. Iran ranks 23rd among AFC nations.
The team led by Sunil Chhetri had their best Asian Cup qualifying campaign earlier this month when they won their three league matches at the top of Group D and secured a place in the 24-team final to be held in 2023.

It was India’s fifth overall qualification and the country qualified for the Asian Cup for the first time. In the overall rankings, Brazil is at the top three months after taking the top spot from Belgium (2nd).
Argentina jumped one place to third at the expense of France (4th) after paying for four unbeaten games in the UEFA Nations League.
England, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal and Denmark complete the top-10. The next FIFA world ranking will come out 25th August 2022.
