RCB came close to reaching their first IPL final in six years by defeating Lucknow Super Giants at Eden Gardens on Wednesday. The team led by Faf du Plessis was their absolute best as they kept KL Rahul & Co. at bay to ensure their first knockout stage win since 2016.

Here’s a look at the 3 stars that helped RCB win –

1. Silver husband

Rajat Patidar became the fourth player to score a century in the play-offs at Eden Gardens with an unbeaten 112 off just 54 balls. Patidar led his innings to perfection, building valuable partnerships first with Virat Kohli and then with Dinesh Karthik to help RCB score a massive 207 on the board. Patidar is also the 4th uncapped player in the history of the IPL to score 100, two of whom Manish Pandey and Devdutt Padikal accidentally did the same at RCB.

2. Harshal Patel

Faf du Plessis put Herschel Patel’s overs behind him because he knew he would play a key role in stopping the LSG from taking over. Lucknow Cruz needed 41 runs in the last 3 overs and Herschel started the 18th over with six runs wide. However, medium pacer Marcus Steinis brought things back with a wicket and bowled a hard line to lose two more to reduce a tough 33-run equation off 12 balls. Patel then bowled the last over of 24 overs with relative ease and finished his four overs with a stunning 1/25 figures.

3. Josh Hazelwood

Needing 33 off 12 overs, the ball was still on LSG’s court and KL Rahul set a good one at the crease. However, Josh Hazelwood showed great bowling prowess, first dismissing the Lucknow captain, before sending Krunal Pandya back to zero. All in all, the double wicket ended LSG’s hopes of advancing to Qualifier 2, and RCB went even further.
