Newcastle got off to a great start, thundered by their fans in their last home game of the campaign. They were on the verge of scoring in the 37th minute through Alan Saint-Maximin, who cut from the wing to the edge of the box and took a low shot that Aaron Ramsdale took care of.

Newcastle dominated the first half and Arsenal registered more shots on goal.

Newcastle found their opener shortly after Gunners defender Ben White turned the ball over in his own net. It was Jolenton’s cross for Calam Wilson as he put pressure on the defenders and while clearing the threat, White turned the ball over Ramsdale’s feet and goal.

Arsenal then began their search for parity as a draw was enough to give them a chance to stay in the top four races. But, things are going to get worse for the Gunners as Bruno Guimeres jumped into a free ball from the box and shot into an open net.

Arsenal, currently in fifth place, have 6 points next to their name. The Emirates will need a win against Everton on Sunday and they will expect Norwich to stun Tottenham for their chances in next season’s Champions League football.

This is Newcastle’s first win in the Premier League against Arsenal since April 2018. Meanwhile, Eddie Howe’s team has moved up to twelfth place in the standings and shows that the change they took after taking the managerial spot in Howe’s team is the last three at Christmas.
