Kidambi Srikkanth vs Bryce Leverage

After playing a clinical role in India’s Thomas Cup winning campaign, Srikanth started his Thailand Open campaign in the first round against France’s Bryce Leverage. Srikanth, who has yet to win a title this year, is finally about to end his drought by winning the Thailand Open.

Srikanth was initially scheduled to face compatriot Parupalli Kashyap but withdrew the latter and was replaced by Leverdez in the main draw. Leverdez’s best performance of the year was playing in the quarter-finals of the European Championship. World No. 39 participated in three tournaments before the European Championships and was eliminated from the first round in all three events.

This will be the fifth meeting between them and both the players and Srikanth has won their previous four matches. The last meeting at the German Open this year was with Srikanth winning three sets.

HS romance [IND] Vs. Liu Darren

HS Romance, who was runner-up at the Swiss Open this year, is having a great year. He was instrumental in India winning the Thomas Cup as they remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. He now enters the Thailand Open with confidence and faces Malaysia’s World No. 34 Liu Darren in the first round.

Darren’s best performances this year have been appearing in the second round of the All England Championships and the Asian Badminton Championships. Darren will look to give a better performance at the Thailand Open.

This will be the 10th meeting between the two players and the romance is leading the head-to-head record 6-3. The last time they met was at the 2021 World Championships when Romance won in a straight set.

PV Indus [IND] Vs. qualifiers

PV Sindhu, who led India to the quarter-finals of the Uber Cup, will face a qualifier in the first round of the Thailand Open. Sindhu lost in straight sets against An-Seung of Japan in the Thomas Cup and lost three sets to Ratchanok Intanon in the quarter-finals. He came out of the semifinals at the Korean Open as well as the Asian Championships before the Thomas Cup, he will now look to win his third title this year by winning the Thailand Open.

Saina Nehwal [IND] Vs. Kim Ga-eun

Saina Nehwal, a 2012 Olympic bronze medalist, is looking to regain her form this year He was dropped from the Indian squad for the Uber Cup after missing selective trials conducted by BAI. Signer now has a point to prove and would like to do well at the Thailand Open. He faced world number 19 Kim Ga-un in the first round. Ga-Yun was a semifinalist at this year’s Korea Open.
