Bracewell performed a rapid antigen test (RAT) after waking up with symptoms. He will need a five-day break before rejoining the group before the final Test at Headingley in Leeds on Thursday 23 June.

The 31-year-old batsman, Bracewell played for the spectators in the second Test and did a fairly decent job, though not particularly impressive. He scored 49 in the first innings and 25 in the second innings.

Meanwhile, he is not the only member of the New Zealand camp who has tested positive for the virus. Although no other players have been infected with Covid-19, physio Vijay Vallabh and strength and conditioning coach Chris Donaldson have also returned positive diagnoses. New Zealand have confirmed that they do not want a replacement at this stage.

Meanwhile, the Blackcaps will be desperate to come back from losing the first two Tests. In the first Test, the visitors lost by 5 wickets, with Joe Root starring for the Three Lions. Johnny Bairstow, on the other hand, was England’s hero in the second Test, where the hosts beat New Zealand by five more wickets.
