Sura explains his position on why he still considers Vettel a very good driver, saying fighting for just 1-2 points would not satisfy a four-time world champion like him. “The question is motivation. Can a tenth-place fight inspire a four-time world champion? It’s hard to say.” Surer concludes.

Vettel missed the first two races of the 2022 season after a positive test for the Covid-19. He returned for the third race at the Australian Grand Prix and retired at Albert Park. The experienced driver then finishes eighth and shows his class at Emola after claiming four points for the team.

However, at the end of the race at the inaugural Miami Grand Prix, Vettel and Schumacher saw the collapse as the second DNF of the season departed with Germany. A driver of his caliber cannot drive for a team that sees itself ninth in the position of constructors.
