Malaysia Open Badminton Live: After the Indonesian Open, badminton action is ready to resume after a week break with the Malaysia Open. The tournament will start on June 28 and showcase the world’s top badminton stars. It is part of the BWF Super 750 series and will be the 13th tournament of the 2022 BWF World Tour. Top Indian shuttlers PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikkanth, Saina Nehwal, HS Pranoy and Sai Pranit will all be in action at the tournament. The final will be played on Sunday, July 3.

Men’s draw

Men’s singles

At number 9 in the world, Lakshya Sen is the only selected player in India. The eighth seed, 20 years old. After exiting the disappointing first round at the Indonesia Open, Target will be looking to put up a good show in Malaysia. He is placed in the third quarter of the draw, which also includes world number three Anders Antonsen. In the first round, South Korea’s Heo Kwang-hee will face Lakha. He has a chance to fight with Anderson in the quarter finals.

Kidambi Srikkanth, ranked 11th in the world, is also eyeing release after losing in the second round of the Indonesian Open. He will face Un-Seeded in the tournament and Sithikom Thammasin of Thailand in the first round.

Meanwhile, Sai Praneeth has also been kept in the same quarter where Srikanth is. Sai Praneeth will face sixth seed Anthony Sinisuka Ginting in the first round. If the Indians win the tournament, they could face Srikanth in the second round. World No. 1 Victor Axelsen is also in the same quarter

HS Romance and Sameer Verma find themselves in the same quarter. Romance, who was a semifinalist at the Indonesian Open, will start his Malaysia Open campaign against local favorite Liu Darren, where Samir Verma will fight seventh-seeded Jonatha Christie in the first round.

Men’s doubles

In the men’s doubles, India’s top doubles pair Sattviksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Sethi are seventh. They are in the first quarter of the draw and will face Malaysian Man Wei Chong Abad Ti Kai Un in the first round. They could face Indonesia’s top seed Marcus Gideon and Kevin Sukamuljo in the quarter-finals.

The other Indian pair in the tournament is Manu Atri and Sumit Reddy. They are in the third quarter of the draw and will face China’s He Jiting and Zhou Haodong in the first round. They could face third-seeded pair of Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan in the second round.

Women’s draw

Female singles

PV Sindhu, ranked 8th in the world, will take part in the tournament as the seventh pick. In the first round, he will face Thailand’s Pornpawi Chochuong. Facing a humiliating defeat in the first round at the Indonesian Open, Sindhu is looking to return a string. He has been placed in the same quarter where the second-seeded and Indonesian Open champion therefore has Xu-ying.

Saina Nehwal is the only Indian singles player in the draw. Saina wanted to prepare well for the Malaysia Open and missed the Indonesia Masters as well as the Indonesia Open. He will begin his campaign against Iris Wang in the United States. If he wins this match, he could face sixth seed Nozomi Okuhara in the second round.

Women’s doubles

In the women’s doubles, Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy are undefeated and will play in the first round against Japan’s sixth-seeded pair of names Matsyama and Chiharu Shidar.

Haritha Harinarayanan and Ashna Roy are the other pair representing India and they will face South Korea’s unseeded Jeong Na-Yun and Kim Hai-Jeong in the first round. Mixed doubles

Venkat Gaurab Prasad and Juhi Dewangan will represent India in mixed doubles. The undefeated pair will play against South Korea’s Kim On-ho and Jeong Na-un in the first round. They are the only Indians in mixed doubles.
