Alcaraz saved a match point against compatriot Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the fourth set of his thrilling second round. From that moment on, he showed the form that made him one of the top favorites of the Clay-Court Major.

In the third and fourth rounds, Alcaraz won all six of his sets – against Sebastian Korda and Khachanov – 6-4 or more. The 19-year-old star took the lead two hours and 14 minutes after losing only once against Khachanov.

The 21st pick always fought hard to enroll against Alcaraz, but the 6th pick always seemed to get the answer.

Alcaraz needed six match points to win, but he finished the job when Khachanov failed to put a backhand passing shot into the game. The 19-year-old will now turn his attention to Zaverev, whom he defeated in the final of the Madrid Open just weeks ago.

Zaverev leads the pair 2-1 in the ATP Head 2 Heads series, but Alcaraz has improved significantly since two defeats against Germany last year. At Kaza Magica, he lost just four games to lift the trophy against Zverev.
