The main concern is that the doctor’s accreditation alone is being canceled at the eleventh hour. Team doctors are very important in sports like boxing, where players can sustain serious injuries.

This is a big problem as Singh is given P category. This means the doctor does not have full-time access to boxers in the games village. Also, there is no round-the-clock access to the playing field during the competition, which is a matter of concern. What happens if a player is seriously injured? Who will take the all-important medical call?

Even more, being a P category means he doesn’t have proper transportation back to the hotel. According to a Times of India report, the doctor will now need a daily pass to visit the venue. He has to sit like a common spectator in the crowd at the venue.

It is important to note that the IOA had to take these steps after a tweet by Lovlina, which went viral. In a media post, he claimed that Gurung was emotionally harassed for not being included in the team.

So the tweet got the attention it needed and under political pressure, all these changes were made to keep Lovlina happy.
