Amit Panghal turns his eyes on the CWG podiums

Amit Pangal, playing in his first major tournament after a disappointing show at the Tokyo Olympics, secured a convincing win in the pre-quarterfinals. He used his combination of right and left punches effectively and fought from a distance, forcing Berry to come forward and attack.

With the first two rounds going in his favour, Pangal was content to defend in the final three minutes, saving his energy for the tough challenge ahead. He is now one win away from winning his second CWG medal. He won silver in the last event at Gold Coast.

He will face 20-year-old Lennon Mulligan from Scotland.

Jasmine Lamboria, Sagar Ahlwat and Rohit Tokas are also in action

While weightlifting is guaranteeing India a ton of medals at CWG 2022, boxing is likely to reap similar results. On Day 7 of CWG 2022, Amit Panghal will join Jasmine Lamboria, Sagar Ahlwat and Rohit Tokas for a shot at the semifinals.

If the Indian boxers manage to win their respective bouts, India’s boxing will have seven guaranteed medals at CWG 2022. Already on Wednesday, India’s Nikhat Zarin, Mohammad Husamuddin and Neetu Gonghas advanced to the semi-finals of their respective categories.
