F1 Austrian GP Live: How Qualification Sessions Work

The qualifying round will begin today at 22:30 IST. The qualifying session is divided into three parts, Q1, Q2 and Q3. The Q1 lasts 18 minutes and has all 20 cars on the grid. At the end of Q1, five slower cars were dropped. Drivers who finish 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 are excluded.

The Q2 session lasts 15 minutes and there are 15 cars on the grid Again slower cars were dropped from 11th to 15th position. The Q3 lasts 12 minutes and has 10 cars on the grid. The position in which drivers will finish in Q3 will be their starting grid position for the race.
