Adrian Meronk won the 2022 Horizon Irish Open at Mount Juliet in Kilkenny.

Merank, in his 65th DP World Tour event, became the first Polish player to win the tour.

In the final round of 66, he won by three shots against first-day leader Ryan Fox of New Zealand, while South Africa’s Thriston Lawrence returned to third place with another shot.

Fox posted the clubhouse lead with Final Round 64 but Merank confirmed his win with the Eagles in the 17th hole.

Merank’s round included 5 birdies and an eagle while Fox posted the day’s round with eight under par scores including seven birdies and an eagle. Fox’s double bogey in the final hole, however, kept the door open for Merank to have a few teams playing behind him.

Another first for Meronk

Merank is accustomed to achieving the first in his short career so far: he became the first player in Poland to secure a DP World Tour card when he graduated following the 2019 Challenge Tour campaign that included the top ten finishes; He was the first male Polish player to compete in four major golf championships when he qualified for the 2021 US Open; He was the first Polish player to win the European Challenge Tour when he won the 2019 Open de Portugal at the Margado Golf Resort.

Today’s Horizon Irish Open win will see him move up to sixth place in the DP World Tour rankings and climb as high as 61St. A career-best in the official world golf rankings – when they are updated.

Shane Lori finished the 2020 Horizon Irish Open as the top Irish player. Offley made a final round 67 cards for the Man Five Under-Per Round, which put him in ninth place at -9, eight shots behind the winner.
